Thumpane Divisional Secretariat Office
, located in Galagedara, Kandy District, Central Province, Sri Lanka, is a vital administrative body responsible for delivering government services to the Thumpane region. Originally part of a combined division with Hatharaliyadda, it was formally established as a separate entity in 2000, now comprising 67 Grama Niladhari Divisions and over 120 villages. The office provides services such as civil registration, land administration, social welfare, development planning, and community coordination. The name “Thumpane” is believed to derive from local folklore, referencing either three surrounding rocks—Kobbeygala, Bolagala, and Alagalla—or a historic settlement of 150 people brought by King Gajaba.
