Overview

Gampola Railway Station is a key stop on Sri Lanka’s scenic Main Line, located in the town of Gampola, Central Province. Established in 1873, it is one of the oldest and most important stations in the hill country, connecting travelers to destinations such as Kandy, Nawalapitiya, Nanu Oya, Ella, and Badulla. The station is known for its colonial-era architecture, peaceful atmosphere, and its proximity to attractions like Ambuluwawa Tower and tea plantations.

All major trains traveling between Colombo Fort and Badulla stop at Gampola, including the popular Podi Menike, Udarata Menike, and Denuwara Menike. The station offers basic passenger amenities, and its location makes it a gateway to the central highlands of Sri Lanka.
