The University of Ruhuna is a public university located in Matara, Sri Lanka. It was established as Ruhuna University College on 1 September 1978 and later upgraded to a full-fledged university on 1 February 1984. It is the only university in the southern region of Sri Lanka and is informally known as Ruhuna University or simply Ruhuna. The university is committed to quality education, research excellence, and strategic partnerships with industry and community development.
