The Panwila Divisional Secretariat is located in the northern part of Kandy District, within Sri Lanka’s Central Province. Originally part of the Pathadumbara electorate, it became an independent administrative division under the Transfer of Powers Act No. 58 of 1992. Covering an area of 96.8 square kilometers, the division includes 14 Grama Niladhari divisions and borders the scenic Knuckles Mountain Range. The region is known for its tea industry, which supports over 90% of the local population. The Secretariat provides essential services such as civil registration, land administration, social welfare, and development planning.
