Sri Jayewardenepura General Hospital (SJGH), located in Thalapathpitiya, Nugegoda, is a government-owned, not-for-profit tertiary care hospital in Established in 1983 as a gift from Japan, it spans nearly 30 acres and offers over 1,300 beds, 37 specialties, and 12 operating theatres. Known for its eco-friendly design and affordable, high-quality care, SJGH provides a full range of services—from outpatient treatment to complex surgeries—and also serves as a teaching hospital for medical professionals.

The National Hospital of Sri Lanka (NHSL), located in Colombo, is the country’s largest and oldest government hospital, established in 1864. Spanning over 32 acres, it serves as the final referral center and largest teaching hospital in Sri Lanka, affiliated with the University of Colombo. With over 3,400 beds, 18 ICUs, and 21 operating theatres, NHSL handles millions of outpatient visits and thousands of surgeries annually.
